HAPPY TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK TO ALL OF OUR WEST STAFF! Please join me in thanking our hard working West staff members who work tirelessly, every day, for our children! Thank you to our PTA for also organizing and funding many special events throughout this week for our West staff!
Our kindergarten, first and second grade teachers have had their Professional Learning Community meetings throughout the week. On Monday evening, May 2nd, the West School Council presented our new 2022-2025 School Improvement Plan to the Plymouth School Committee at 7:00 PM. The Lego Club met (for second graders) on Tuesday morning, May 3rd at 8:00 AM. We had a visit from the 4-H Club on Tuesday, May 3rd to plant sunflowers! Thank you to Ms. Keegan for organizing this event for our West students! We had a West staff meeting on Tuesday afternoon, May 3rd at 3:35, and a West PTA Zoom call at 7:00 PM. On Wednesday, May 4th we had "Life Touch Spring Picture Day!" COVID communication was sent out to staff and families on Wednesday, May 4th. Our Consulting Teachers of Literacy had a meeting on Wednesday, May 4th at 1:30. We are playing kickball with our third graders this afternoon at 2:00, as a reward for their MCAS performance! Our therapy dog, Salty Rose, returns to visit us tomorrow on Friday afternoon, May 6th at 1:45!
Looking ahead to next week (May 9th - May 13th), we have important MCAS testing dates, as follows:

Spring-O-Grams continue to be sold throughout the week of May 9th. Our Lego Club (for second graders) is meeting on Tuesday morning, May 10th at 8:00. We celebrate and recognize our incredible nurse, Marisa Shore, on Wednesday, May 11th in honor of School Nurse's Day! Thank you to Nurse Marisa for taking care of us all at West, every day! COVID communication will be sent out to staff and families on Wednesday, May 11th. Dr. Campbell, Superintendent of Schools, will be visiting West on Wednesday, May 11th at 10:00. We have early dismissal on Wednesday, May 11th at 1:05 - teachers have professional development. We have Kindergarten Orientation for the class of 2035 on Thursday evening, May 12th at 6:00 PM in the West Cafeteria! Adults only please for this orientation (no children).
Lastly, please remember that it is district policy for Plymouth Public Schools that ALL visitors must have a CORI on file at West prior to being admitted to the building. This includes all parents, volunteers and visitors, whether inside or outside of the building. A CORI is kept on file for three years - if you haven't updated yours, please reach out to Mrs. Crociati to have a CORI run. With upcoming open houses, field trips, field day, plays and talent shows on the horizon, it is important to have this on file at West in our data base. There is a form to complete with Mrs. Crociati (or Mrs. Westcott in the morning) and we will need a copy of your license. We welcome our parents to visit us, but this measure is for the safety and security of your child, with so many field trips and fun year-end events coming to West in May and June.
Thank you so much!
I wish everyone a Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Mr. Williams
